mister and misses barney this is your son speaking from paita peru...
today was a good day we stared by going to this "colleseo" which is probably the equivalent to the gym bilas has and we played some basketball haha.. it was me 7 latins a kid from new mexico that wrestled all his life a somewhat nerdy kid from california and another kid from snowflake that played basketball in highschool.. needless to say i was like michael jordan haha if coach smith could have only seen me he would have been proud and probably a little ashamed to have cut me from the team lol...
next we had our interviews with pres chipman which was really great i decided to ask him about his life and whathe did for a living and all that jaz... turns out he has had an interesting life i found out what he did for a living and a little about his famil and so it was fun to gett to know him a little bit better..
anyways my new area reminds me a lot of clifton Az there are a ton of really old buildings and it is like built in a canyon sort of thing so there are a bunch of houses built into the side of cliffs and to top it off the is a road that goes up the "high part" kinda like morenci haha. the olny difference is that its on the coast. its really cool here almost everyone is a fisher so its kinda hard teaching families because all the men leave for like a month at a time.. the harbor is filled with no joke 100 or more boats.. i will try to get a picture but it may be a little tough cause it is supposedly a little dangerous so i dont want my camera to get jacked.. my new comp is really cool he is from lima and has 20 months in the mission.. he talks in a really monotone voice.. ifyou have ever seen galaxyquest he talks like the aliens. but yeah i think we are going to have a ton of success in the area.. we are both new to the area so these first couple days have been spent getting to know all the members and old investigators of the missionaries that left.. as for having an american comp i dont think so.. i think the only possibilty is if i get to train a newbie but those are the only cases ive heard of two americans together...
anyways sounds like you guys are really doing work up there paraden it up and what not sounds like fun haha.. just two more weeks of relax until you get back to the hard stuff be sure to make it last lol.. thanks for the pics aunt annie sent me two pictures of you mom haha lookin good in your boots lol... thanks for keeping me updated in everything i love you all...

mother and fam..
well im not too positive onthe changes cause my comp talked on the phone and he always trys to make jokes and stuff like that but im pretty sure im heading to paita which is a small fishing town on the coast so that should be interesting imnot sure how i will deal with all the fish but hopefully ill make it out alive.. my comp is going to be elder vasquez i dont know anything about him but hopefully it will be a good change! i leave tommorrow i think its only like an hour or two from piura so not too big of a change but i am excited for something new change is always a good chance to start something new and better so i hope i can really do work.. it will be tough leaving the area im in it always seams right when things start going good and we start to find a lot of peopl that want to progress is when i get changed haha but oh well aat least my replacement elder can have some of my success i´ll know who planted the seed and that is a good enough reward for me..
sounds like you guys really tore up the st george tourney haha congrats on that one it sounds like your going to have the state championship in the bag if you keep it up so that is awesome! too bad i wont be there to cheeryou guys on and garrentee the big W .
im glad to here the adventures of rob and ray havent ceased haha sound like they are having a good time i will be sure to tell pres chipman thanks for you...
anyways the missionis going great im not going to lie im a little dissapointed that i didnt get moved up to senior comp but sitting here thinking about i realized that it doesnt matter if you have a big great calling you dontneed that to work.. i have been making excuses lately as to well if i were senior comp then i would do this...or if i didnt have to do everything my comp said i could really make a difference.. but the thing is it doenst matter.i realized why canti make a differenc a junior comp why cant i do whats right and work as hard as i can to get the job done without that calling. i realizedi can and i will! butyeah thanks for all your love and support that you send with each of your letters i lovereadingabout whatyou guys are going through and hearing about all your adventures haha thank you for everything i love you all

Stadium Soccer

welp thanks for keepon the writing alive haha i appriciate it
things are going good for me down here... next week are changes im not to certain im staying here but who knows what the lord has in store for me i just do what im told and that seems to work..
today was pretty sweet president chipman rented out a stadium that the pros play in ( i guess i can say pros but it wast anything like cardnal stadium but yeah it was sufficient haha.. we had like 5 zones and we played socer the whole morning which was way fun im not going to lie i had a few goals but ya know thats just a part of the lifestyle i cant help it if im justt that good lol... but yeah it was a ton of fun i really enjoyed it...
sound like things are going pretty normal up in the GC state so that is good tell rebeka and natalya happy birthday i will be honest i did realize it was rebekas on the 8th but last night while lying in my bed at about 10ish i remembered natalyas so 1 out of 2 is pretty good i could say.. anyways im glad to hear your fighting for that prime realstate in clifftan it will give nick a place to honey moon and live when i get home and need my room back haha anyways im doing good eeverything seems to be fine but ill keep you updatedif i get a change... wish the dogs a good day haha im sure they miss me but yeah love you all

dearest family
this week has been great haha our numbers were off the charts we found like 30 new investigators and taught like 40 lessons haha that probably doesnt mean too much to you but in the mission that is pretty good! now all we have to do is get them to progress lol... anyways i am having a blast down here and really learning to love the people and the work. i am learning so many important lessons and stuff about the gospel it is amazing i feel the saviors love in everyday and it amazes me how much he loves us. the atonement is something so amazingly wonderful that i pray everyday thanking heaveanly father for the chance i have to share it with everyone!

welp things are just cruzing along im still livin the good likfe haha me and my comp are getting along pretty great he is starting to get a little anxious to go home. (he leaves in september) and everytime an airplane flies over us he tells me hey i think they are looking for me haha. but dont worry im keeping him in shape.. i got your package thank you so much for everything it was so awsome to read about all my friends and what they have been up to lately... anyways tell lexie and natallya thanks for the letters ill try to write them back asap but we´ll see how that goes haha..
anyways funny story this week we got to go proslyting with this member.. the bishop has set some goals for him to get on the right path and one of those is to accompany us 3 days out of the week. now your probably thinking good for him this kid is on the right track to turning his life around and yes he is but the thing is he isnt a kid he is 40 years old haha and is married and for the past 20 years every year on his birthday has gotten a new tattoo haha! he likes to go to the gym and pump iron which is cool but it seriously feels like we are walking around with a bodyguard haha.. everywhere we go he is saying hi to his "buddies" which are the people that you usually put you head down and walk away from. we pass places and he fills us in on not to pass the same place at night because thats where the drug deals go down haha lets just say it is interesting lol. But the thing is this guy has a rok solid testimony he really does want to change he has committed like 3 of our investigators to baptism lol..
but yeah that has been what ive been up to for the past week lol his name is martin by the way.. the work is going good yesterday we found this family that the dad flat out asked us " i was if god talked to the people of the old world why has he stopped to talk to us today, where are his prophets?" haha JACKPOT but yeah i am doing great down here and really learning to love the work of the savior.
sad to hear about Divi throw an extra handful of dirt on the casket for me... pretty crazy though 98 years_! thats a long time the great thing is now we can hook here up with a baptism and you guys are about a minute away from the place to do it! what great luck!
anyways thanks again for the package im not sure if you forgot but i need that other memory chip for my camera so if you could send that too in the next one too im assuming that you have transfered all the pictures.. anyways tell rebeka congrats on her big W and to keep up the good work im proud of everyone and love you all

Grandma Divi's Funeral

dear everyone hello
its me again im still in peru just doing work thats crazy about grandma divi.. tell dad not to get any ideas.. that just because her house is going to be vacant doesnt mean we need to move to clifton.. it may be river side property prime realstate but i think we are doing just fine in thatcher haha. anyways let me know what happens with grandma divi, did she just wake up sick or fall or what?
good to hear your fathers day was good mine was too we had a baptism which is always so awesome it was the lady that surprised us last week. she was so excited and ready to be baptised haha it is so awesome being a missionary things are going good with my new comp i feel like he is more my friend than a companion which is how it should be i think we get a lot done and have fun whil doing it haha. i still havent gotten your package but im sure it will be here tommarow thats when all the mail comes... im so proud to say that ALL of my friends have there mission calls and are going to be serving i a little less than 5 months today marks my 8 months in the mish and 6 months in the field the time really flys by when you are doing the work of the lord imgetting to the point that im not sure what im going to do when i get home i am going to be so lost haha. i definatly have not gotten to the point that i want to purchase food storage but im sure its coming haha anyways i still havent seen a picture of the new dog.. that is if you still have it.. who is driving my jeep? what have you done to my room haha just random questions but yeah i am doing great down in piura it is starting to get pretty chilly at night which is awsome i think i am going to take out 50 dollars to buy some stuff that i need so just a fyi
the work is going good we find an average of 20 to 30 new investigators weekly and 7 to 10 progress so that is good anyways i am doing wonderful tell granner thank you so very much for writting me it always is nice to here from someone else tell everyone i love them and to keep having fun

New Companion...World Cup Starts

my new comp is really awesome i am learning so much everyday from him everyday... today were interviews with president chipman always fun to talk to him he pretty much told me that next change ill probably move up to comp. mayor so thats pretty cool.. i really am loving my area he told me that he thinks it is the biggest in the mission haha so lots of people to talk too.. the work is comming along this week we have a baptism a single mom, 22 years old with two kids of 1 and 2 years old. this week we went to get her to take herr to church and she wasnt at her housssse so we were pretty bumbed and went to the capilla and when we got there she was sitting in the second row with her kids she told us that she want her little girl to get there early to get accustomed to the building! i love when the these peopple surprise me with there faith and testimony it always leaves me think how i can make my mission and life better. pondering on all the things that i could possibly change to better myself.
so yeah pretty much im living the dream down here haha, but its good to hear that you guys are doing good too.. the world cup phase is hitting pretty hard down here too im so pumped for the US to be reppin big time i hope they can get the job done peru decided that they didn want to enter they heard that i was coming and thought it would be better practice to play with me than in the cup .. as for the laker and celtics i lost interest whe the suns left the picture m sure they´re just waiting for me to get back and cheer them on.
sweet about the temple work you really cant see the importance of that wirk until you are out here teaching ppeople day after day.. its like freee baptisms that you can rack on and youdont even have to teach them and they cant tell you no haha pretty good deal to me lol...

busy busy busy
well my comp is out of here and im staying... im ot too torn up about it though my new comp is from equador and he has like 21 months in the mission so i may be his last comp he is fluent in english haha so im excited about that he will get here tomorrow. so yeah i am doing great i havent touched anything in my account so im not even sure how much is in there im not sure that i need anything so ill just leave it until i do anyways sounds like things are going to be a little hectic for awhile with b ball vball swimming softball and and girls camp should be nice to have a rest for a week while natalya is bothering the alpine forest. thats cool about madison and jordan small world huh? seems like everyone has some sort of tie back to thatcher AZ. thats awsome about his mission call too everyone is going spanish speaking pretty nuts i feel like its not even going to be cool to speak spanish when i get home cause there will be like 500 other people haha.. tell rebeka congrats for beating safford and pima but that isnt good enough if your not first your last.. tell jimmy that i am in an area called algarrobos and the zone is called miraflores. i actually talked to this lady that said she knows a missionary named elder elkins from arizona and he served like 20 years ago but im not sure if it is jimmy she said she would look for a picture im pretty sure its not because the time doesnt add up but who knows.... im glad everything is going well in the gila valey today our district leader goes home and he is from mesa it was kinda wierd thinking he was going to my state haha but yeah all is well i will let you know how my new comp is and stuff like that

a little more calm this week no more muggings haha but yeah things are good.
my comp and i are getting along pretty well he thinks this is going to be his last week in the area so he has wanted to visit the members and stuff its kinda annoying when i know what we could and should be doing but i let him know that even though he may be leaving this change i probably wont so we need to get to work.. i hope he understood lol but yeah i hopwe to pick it up this last week.
that is nuts about joey im pumped for him! im pretty sure thats the mission with machu pichu! he is really going to love it! maybe not the sean ajemin part but yeah haha that will put 4 of us here in peru joey sean jay and me plus the pima kid and safford kid! wow what a small worl it is lol and also that adds to the spanish speaking club we are going to have! pretty mush everyone but jon lol
and speaking of peru i know it is still a long time away but have you guys given any thought about coming down here to pick me up? probably not but just a thought, the most expensive part would be the plain ticket cause everything is dirt cheap down here and idk it would be cool to visit machu pichu and stuff like that as a family.. . not that thats what im thinking of right now but just wanted to know if there has been any thought haha..
well the days here are pretty warm but not unbearable and the nights are perfect nice and chilly i sleep with a sheet and that seems to do just fine.. and yes it is very desserty and flat but i am learning to enjoy it. im pretty excited to get home and hit up that new building especially so close to the temple! and thatcher 5th ward is jon and cody´s ward too1 pretty big stuff! glad to hear the gardin has expanded to watermelos and what not but i dont think that they will compare to the produce down here we had a watermelon the size of a giant pumpkin it probably weighed 30 pounds lol! it was huge. didnt have the quality of the one legged watermelon man´s but it was good. everything downhere is on steroids haha.. good to hear that nick is doing good im sure the knocking on doors for 2 years is a little bit of a help too.
anyways i am doing great changes are next week and ill probabl get a new comp but im not sure ill let you knpow!

yeah so this week i was robbed not in the way that i would think though i was scammed out my money like i was a part of a heist haha.. its hard to explain what went down but pretty much these guys took advantage of the fact that the missionaries are here to help everyone im fine though so dont worry but yeah im not mad about losing my money which was only 30 soles ($10) but more over the fact that the whole situation could and should have been avoided. i clearly felt the spirit several times trying to tell me to get out to just walk away and i ignored it. it truly was an expirience that has changed the way i look at things and i am actually glad it happend because i learned a ton and i made a promise never to ignore the promptings of the lord ever again..
im so glad that everything went great at the temple dedication it feels unreal to think that the prophet was in our town like something incredible i cant wait to see the dvd .. it sounds like it was an awsome expirience that will be remembered in the valley forever.. my mind is just dwelling in that expirience that everyone had i know that the prophet is a servant of god and that he truly does recieve revalation and direction from or heavenly father and to think that i am a part of bringing people to know this truth is somthing incredible. I know that we will see our family sealed i know it with every fiber in my body the lord will bless everyone of us for our faithfulness to him and we will be able to be an eternal family..
that is great about markus its wierd to think when he goes out i will be just days away from my year mark the time really flies by when you lose yourself in the work. i really cant wait to see where joey blaine and madison are going to go! we had another baptism this week and after this guy was baptised he shared his tesimony which was awsome it was so powerful and great to think that we brougt that joy to his life.
my comp is kinda difficult but i am trying my hardest to keep working hard i know the lord will bless me for my dedication

lots of info haha first and formost im pretty sad about the central building ive had some good memories in that ol guy as for all the central missionaries that are home that is too bad i honestly never would of thought that vance would come home... i hope they all can get whatever it is they need sorted out.. as for senior misionary in the ward both justin and brenin have more time than me... so yeah
as for the slide inccedent why would i carve anyone elses name in the slide other than my own? im pretty sure i know who the 3 are in fact im almost positive haha... they just blame the kind 4000 miles away pretty good allaby if you ask me haha.
its hard to think that i graduated a whole year ago it seriously feels like yesterday haha i remember it all perfectly and it just feels unreal im not really sure how to explain it..
good to hear you guys are still aving fun without me canooing and whatnot with grandama divi. im sure nick really scored points with that date...: hey you want to go cannooing in clifton arizona and afterwards we can go and meet my 97 year greatgrandmother and yell at her? bullseye! haha but it sounds like you had a good time. thanks for the picture and yes reka already sent it to me but thats okay. im am so honored to have such great friends and to think in 3 months or more all of them will be serving the lord! especially blaine who was baptized only a year ago! how awesome is that!?

anyways i am good my new comp is a little bit of a drama queen he gets angry really easy haha but he really does like to work hard and is keeping me in line so that is good. we had another baptism this past sunday and have another this coming saturday the work is coming along and i am loving it.i know ive said this alot but you have no idea how much the lord blesses his missionaries i feel his hands pushing me to be better everyday.. like you said the work is never easy i am challenge to the limit everyday mentally physically and spiritually, and at times it feels as if i cant do it but i know how important this work is and i just try to focus on the souls that i am responsible to bring the truth. i put my faith in god and i somehow find the strength to knock one more door or to walk the extra mile to visit an inactive member i truly am blessed and i thank my heavanly father everyday for these blessing.
thanks for always being there for me and supporting me in everything i owed it all to my family!

hey guys im sending it to both emails to make sure you get it
well.. it was really good to tqalk to everyone and to hear your voices and know that everything is going good. sounds like all the temple celebrations and ending of the school year is going to keep you pretty busy so thats good i guess i really cant wait to see the temple when i get home its going to be so awesome to go through it for the first time.. im glad you liked the pictures the dinosaour on the plain was a gift from my first comp.. (barney t rex haha) but yeah i was a little bored..
so you didnt answer my question about dustin did he come home early? if so why?
i would like a picture of the new dog that we got haha if you could send that it would be nice... so i just realized the next time i talk to you guys i will be 20 which is really quite crazy no more teenage kid stuff no more throwing tennis balls at cars it is kinda a big step haha.

well there is a lot too say and not too much time
i got transfered to bilas arizona i mean piura haha it looks like the indian res in parts and it funny how much i reminds me of home whether in a good way or bad but yeah my new comp i named elder fuchs he is peruano from iquitos he is a good worker and i feel we are going to have a lot of success together it was really cool to be transfered i got to see a lot of friends from the mtc and i is cool not to be secluded anymore so yeah we had 2 more baptisms this week sothat was a good way to welcome me in the ward. the area i am in is huge and the wartd is almost double than san ignacio but that is good that means more member references which is great!
sounds like everything is going great down there i wish i could be there to see the temple and its dedication and all that it truly is a wonderful place.. i feel jealous that you get to go through so many time ... hold in there and i absoloutly know without a doubt that we will make it there together as a family. the lord will bless us truly for our obidience and faithfullness to his gospel.i promise...

FAMILY AND MOTHER
okie dokie,
so i am changing my area i dont know where yet all i know is our bus leaves at 11 in the night today. i have a ton of mixed feelings i want to stay here and continue to work ive been here for 4 months and the people are really starting to grow on me haha. last night my pension threw a party for me and made a cake and everything i feel like a celebrety here and it is going to be tough to leave. hopefully since this is my first area i can at least come to a different district and visit but who knows.. im not sure when i will call on mothers day probably sometime in the night here around 7, 8, or 9 ish, so that means 3, 4, or 5 there (i think) but yeah i will let you know when i know for sure im very excited too.. so this week was my 6 month mark it seems like just yesterday i left haha time really flys by out here.
the temple is finially finished so crazy finially the preyers of som many faithful saints have been answered! im so excited to come home and e able to walk outside my house and see the temple. how blessed are we. the people in san ignacio have to takea 20 hour bus trip one way too get to the lima temple and we have 3 within 5 hours kinda spoiled if you ask me lol. im excited also for a new ward building although i will miss the t.v. it makes you feel like a movie star haha. thats going to be crazy if our ward splits ill have to talk in two mettings to adress everyone i left haha. a little fyi brenden angle is named brenin angle haha.
im so excited for all my friends to get out here to it makes me so glad that i grew up with such great examples that all of them have made the deccision to serve a mission. that is crazy abiut the prom situation i never would have thought, they would head back to the highschool pretty funny about joey though it will make britney´s whole year though..
well things are going down here i will let you know where i am next week and try to fill you in on the mothers day call.. tell dave and tracy hello and the kids too give my respects for greta she was a great example to us all lol.. thanks for everything if you could ask nick about his ipod that would be nice too thanks

my week was fantastic pretty much.. we had a surprise call on Thursday from the zone leaders at around 2 in the afternoon saying to get your things together and leave for Jaen by 3 because we were having the zone conference.. so we packed for a day and left turns out when we got there president chipman wasn't coming and we had to do our interviews with him over a cell phone which was very interesting haha if you have ever prayed over a cell phone you will know that it is awkward to say the least. then on Friday we all crammed into a members house and had our conference over the Internet through a live feed video site it was an interesting two days but it was good haha well changes are next week and im not sure if im going to get the boot or not if not i will stay in San Ignacio for 6 months i have mixed feelings because i want to get to know other places in the mission but i really love it here and we are getting a lot of investigators that are progressing so we will see... i don't feel like i am going to leave but you can never be sure .. anyways we are getting pretty close with this one family it is a wife and a husband (not married) but the really like our visits and want to get married but the lack the money. in may the is what is called mass civil marriages and the city takes care of everything which is cool we set there date for then and I'm hoping i will be here to see them married. i feel weird saying that but that's the way it is down here.
that is cool about brother Tyler being the new stake president my old home teaching buddy haha if you see him tell him i said congrats and thanks for making sure i always went with him to home teach even if i didn't want to.
I'm excited for the temple and I'm sure you guys are too it is so crazy how fast it went up and now we ave a temple in the Gila valley! i cant wait to get back and go through it myself.
tell rebeka when she doesn't win anything in the awards night because mrs. macatee hates our family to take it out on the free stuff i expect my stack of cups to have doubled if not tripled when i get home haha.

Natalya Swims Alcatraz!

Dear Family,
thank you for not forgetting about me even if it is short its good to know someone cares haha..
things are going good down here i am enjoying myself and my mission more everyday i am learnig so much we didnt get to go to the waterfalls this week and i dont think were going.. a little disapointing but okay i didnt come out here to sight see i came to do work! speaking of the work it has slowed down a little which isnt good but i am working to bring it bakc to the maximum! the longer i stay in this area the more i dont want to leave i feel that there is so much potential here, the members are firm and want to help its just up to us to get out there and work. i sent a letter this week with my memory chip inside i really hope it makes it okay... sounds like natalya really did good but im not sure i can believe there were no tears.. the queen of cry, the biggest crier in the whole western hemeshpere and didnt even shed one tear... maybe she is growing up haha.. but sounds like the whole expirience was a good one and that is great.. so prettymuch im not sure what to write about haha let me know how the temple is doing and when you can walk in the open house... are there any new mission calls that i would be concerned with? how are the dogs doing well actually i dont really care about hammy just bey, horses too did dad every get his golden horse that no one was alloud to look at without his permision re bred? how is uncle david and aunt annie and jonny doing? oh just out of curiosity what is nick planning on studying like majoring in? yeah haha i dont have anymore questions really but fill me in on everything and dont forget about the ipod.

Zone Conference Cancelled

well we did not have zone conferences this week or go to the waterfall because there was a ton of rain and made the roads a little dangerous so president couldnt come but i thinks are going to be better this week with that im nt sure but hopefully they will be..
conference was way good we watched it in the chapel on a big screen but the 1st 2 sessions no one showed up but us so we had the whole churh to ourselves it was cool.. for some reason the signal got messed up and we missed the preisthood session but the got it straightend out before sunday so we were able to watch the sunday sessions..
it was way different watching in spanish it really made me pay attention a lot more and i think i probably got more out of it than i would have otherwise my favorite talk was by jeffery r holland i love all his talks he is such a powerfull speaker and it is awsome to hear him speak..
so it sounds like these next couple weeks are goign to be pretty jam packed what with cali and palate spreaders, morp temple dedications volleyball and all that stuff.. you never sent the pictures of the temple just a little fyi. but yeah things are going good the shoes are holding up fine you dont have to send me anything im okay if you want you can buy me a pair of the sandals and hold on to them for a year and a half i dont really need them out here though.. tell rebeka i got a 31 on the act haha but i actually got like a 27 but that was without study and like 6 hours of sleep the night before haha so technically a 34 if you ask me.. but yeah good luck with the alcatraz swim bring me home a souvenir lol jk make sure natalya doensnt cry,
