October 19, 2009
This morning we dropped Andrei off at the Phoenix airport for his flight to Salt Lake. It was a bittersweet occasion with smiles and tears. It is amazing how the human heart and brain sometimes don't work in unison. We know in our minds what is best and right and yet our hearts betray us with sickly feelings of loss. It just doesn't make much sense to me, but I know that it happens just that way.
Andrei will stay with his grandparents in Lindon UT for 2 days before he is dropped off yet again at the curbside of the Provo, MTC. Thanks mom and dad for having him.
Andrei spoke in sacrament meeting on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009. His topic was repentance and he did a fabulous job of explaining the 5 steps and illuminating the topic with his own personal experiences. Though I am not sure the law enforcement individuals in the congregation appreciated his rendering of the "tennis ball" incident as it has become known, but I think most enjoyed his application of a true gospel principle in his own wayward teenage life. His testimony was sincere and heartfelt and made both his mom and dad shed some tears of joy in realizing what a great young man their little boy has become.
There were many friends and family in attendance and we sure thank everyone and the important role they have played in helping our son. Friends can never be underestimated in their influence for good and Andrei has had some of the best friends ever. Their parents have done an excellent job raising valiant sons and daughters and we feel so blessed for Andrei to have grown up over the years in their homes and with their families. Thank you! You are an answer to a mother's prayers.
The journey is just beginning for Andrei. He is on the Lord's errand now and we gladly turn him over to His care and service.
